The Northumbrian Bakehouse is a firm favourite here at Heather and Bale. One of our first finds when we set out on our journey to create the most amazing luxury hampers and gifts. The Northumbrian Bakehouse continues to deliver on taste and quality to this day.
Situated in the picturesque Kirkharle Courtyard, the Northumbrian Bakehouse is a small artisan bakery, creating the most delicious shortbread, biscuits, and cakes.
Where it all began
This venture begins with Stephen Laidlow. He created the Northumbrian Bakehouse with over 40 years of experience in baking. It’s because of his passion and dedication to his craft, that we all get to enjoy this mouth-watering shortbread, packed full of flavour. Baked in small batches, where attention to detail is paramount in producing the right quality. This quality is what makes this shortbread our first choice when curating our range of luxury hampers and gifts.
Kirkharle Courtyard
The Bakehouse can be found in the heart of the Northumberland countryside, in Kirkharle Courtyard. “A place to eat, shop unwind and explore”. It’s a great place to visit to enjoy a close community of artian businesses, all housed in old converted farm buildings.
So, as we all begin to get out again after a long two years, it would be a lovely place for a day out. Just in time for the warmer weather arriving, and of course you can pick up some of the best shortbread you will ever taste.
